bandwidthd tracks usage of TCP/IP network subnets and builds HTML files with graphs to display network utilization. Charts are built by individual IP to show their utilization over 2, 8, 45, and 400 day periods. It color codes HTTP, HTTPS, TCP,UDP, ICMP, VPN, and P2P traffic. Unlike MRTG, it tracks each individual IP address and subnets, not the status of any particular link. Static mode is fast and easy to set up and has few dependencies. Database mode supports filtering by subnet, multiple sensors, custom reports and intervals, and can process thousands of IPs efficiently. Network utilization can be logged in CDF or a backend database.
Webfwlog is a Web-based firewall log reporting and analysis tool. It allows users to design reports to use on logged firewall data in whatever configuration they desire. Included are sample reports as a starting point. Reports can be sorted with a single click, or "drilled-down" all the way to the packet level, and saved for later use. Supported log formats are netfilter, ipfilter, ipfw, ipchains, Cisco routers, Snort, and Windows XP. Netfilter support includes ulogd MySQL or PostgreSQL database logs using the iptables ULOG or NFLOG target.
NFS Manager is a small tool that provides easy access to the NFS features of Mac OS X. As an operating system with a Unix core, Mac OS X is able to support the Network File System (NFS) protocol. NFS is the accepted industry standard for sharing files between Unix systems. Although NFS is a built-in component of Mac OS X, users cannot access this feature without special knowledge and use of the command-line. NFS Manager solves this problem by providing an easy-to-use Aqua interface for the definition of NFS connections.
GNU VPE creates a virtual ethernet by creating host-to-host tunnels between multiple endpoints. Unlike other virtual private "network" solutions which merely create a single tunnel, it creates a real network with multiple endpoints. It is designed to be conceptually simple and straightforward to setup (assuming prior IP routing knowledge) without sacrificing flexibility. It is designed to sit on the gateway machines of company branches to connect them, but it can also be used to tunnel into a VPN with a variety of protocols (RAW IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, HTTPS-Proxy, DNS).
The PEAK library tries to achieve high performance in combining multi-threading with an efficient I/O event model. You can write event-based applications that use massive sockets I/O, timers, and signals. Its underlying I/O multiplexing engine supports kqueue(2) (FreeBSD, NetBSD, and Mac OS X), epoll(2) (Linux 2.6), and /dev/poll (Solaris). It provides support for optimized memory allocations, basic database primitives, and synchronization.
Olsrd is an implementation of the Optimized Link State Routing protocol for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). The protocol is described in RFC3626. The Linux version supports IPv4 and IPv6, while the other versions are IPv4 only. The implementation includes an optional ETX-like link quality routing, and provides a plugin interface allowing development of separate plugins.
plugdaemon is a load-balancing "plug" proxy. It allows you to forward TCP connections to one or multiple hosts, using load balancing or failover, and to route the connections through an HTTPS proxy. Access control is done by source interface or by originating IP. Outgoing connections can be bound to a specific IP address.
