NagiosAppender is a pure Java implementation of a Log4j appender that allows the developer/administrator to send log records to Nagios via the NCSA server (using the push model). It provides a simple solution for Nagios administrators whose only alternative is to implement a polling function against against the output of a standard Log4j appender. The log4j configuration file provides for user-specific mappings between Log4j levels and Nagios levels. The configuration file also allows the user to select whether to set the Nagios 'service' and 'host' programmatically via Log4j MDC, or via the config file. Later releases support XOR encryption.

Trojan Scan is a simple shell script that allows for simple but relatively effective checking for trojans, rootkits and other malware that may be using your server and network for unwanted (and possibly illegal) purposes. It is relatively simple and won't catch them all, but can help to find these programs on shared servers with many users. It works by listing all process that use the Internet with the lsof command (using -Pni flags). This list is then transformed into signatures, which are then are matched against the allowed process defined in the configuration. If any signatures of running processes are found that do not match the allowed signatures, an email report is sent including ps, ls, and optional lsof output for the unknown processes.

SIOX4Java (Simple Interactive Object Extraction) is a Java SDK that provides a generic segmentation engine for extracting the foreground from still images with little user interaction. The underlying method (which has also been integrated into GIMP) is noise and motion blur robust and can easily be adapted for the segmentation of objects in videos. The SDK also contains an experimental feature called the "Detail Refinement Brush", which enables the removal of spill colors and manual refinement of highly detailed textures.

VRaptor 2 is a Web-based MVC and IOC framework based on many frameworks and ideas (Seam, Stripes, Webwork, Hibernate Annotations, etc). It makes full use of Java 5 Annotations. It favors convention over configuration, because configuration in XML/properties/annotations is always easy to make mistakes and repetitive (aka copy and paste in many places). This framework uses a more imperative approach, instead of having many XML files to configure lifecycle and other properties. Most of the settings go inside plain Java objects (POJO), so the team knows exactly what is going on and where.
