Mimer SQL is an SQL-based, high-performance RDBMS, targeted at mission-critical client/server environments. It offers scalable performance (including multi-processor support), and is available in all major Unix (including Linux), Windows, and OpenVMS platforms. It offers Optimistic Concurrency Control as the transaction handling method, instead of the more commonly used locking-type.

Release Notes: The most important new functionality is support for Database Triggers and Functions according to ISO’s SQL99 standard, including INSTEAD-OF triggers which provide support for updateable join-views. Other new features include a SEQUENCE construct that can be used for automatic primary key generation and object names that can be up to 128 characters. The support for ODBC 3 includes new data types like Binary, Bit, and Unicode.
