Exponent CMS

Exponent CMS is a content management system for Web sites. It allows site owners to easily create and manage dynamic Web sites without necessarily directly coding Web pages or managing site navigation. Exponent uses an intuitive and flexible content editing system that allows Web pages to be edited on the page as it is displayed. This avoids the need for more back-end administration or for navigating many administration pages to add a simple line of text. You can simply visit the page you need to edit as if you were a site visitor, and make the change.

Release Notes: This release implements a revised installation/upgrade process; administrators are now informed when upgrades are needed or version updates are available. The WYSIWYG editor now more faithfully displays content styles and offers additional customizations. Tag viewing, usage, and management were improved. Improved display of Module aggregation selection. Missing and orphan files can now be removed/added to File Manger. There are many other updates and fixes.

Release Notes: The new language system ships with Czech, Danish, Finnish, German, Spanish, and Norwegian translations. The permission system now more accurately reflects its designed purpose with cascading and inheritance; the global sidebar no longer inherits current page permissions. File Manager/Uploader/Pixidou have many tweaks and fixes. The Flowplayer module offers style selection. Filedownloads optionally shows media player. If the database is down, the system is now placed in a temporary maintenance mode instead of running installation. Search result highlighting has been added. There are many other bugfixes and updates.

Release Notes: The Smarty template engine was changed from version 2.6.x to 3.1. Upgrading production sites is not recommended without first testing your custom themes and mods. New features were added, including 'auto-complete' for tags in the blog and portfolio modules. There were numerous other fixes for a range of issues.

Release Notes: The YUI 2 JavaScript library loader was changed to use 'yui2in3'. Several other 3rd party libraries were updated. The theme engine was updated to include theme previewing, configuration, style variations, and mobile theme variations. A new user-configurable Multi-Options theme. SimpleTheme includes an example barebones Mobile theme variation. The Twitter module has been updated to better mimic the twitter.com view including retweet features. Many e-commerce updates. Several 1.0 style subsystems and modules were deprecated, including the administration and login modules.

Release Notes: There are many fixes and features since RC2, including: database and file import/export; installation with optional sample content; new on-screen instructions for obtaining needed external settings (keys) with links to obtain them; a revised and configurable Twitter view with many options; the ability to send tweets; better language support; better error checking in 3rd party libraries (mail and Twitter); and better migration of 0.9x data.
