GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool. It copies data from one file or block device (hard disk, CD-ROM, etc.) to another, trying to rescue the good parts first in case of read errors. GNU ddrescuelog is a tool that manipulates ddrescue logfiles, shows logfile contents, converts logfiles to/from other formats, compares logfiles, tests rescue status, and can delete a logfile if the rescue is done.
Release Notes: A bug has been fixed in the "or" and "xor" operations of ddrescuelog. New "-H, --test-mode", "-L, --loose-domain", "-N, --no-trim", "-O, --reopen-on-error", "-1, --log-rates", and "-2, --log-reads" options have been added. The "-K, --skip-size" option has been extended. If ddrescue is interrupted by a signal, it now terminates by raising that signal. The algorithm of the copying phase has been changed. The "-B, --binary-prefixes", "-C, --complete-logfile", and "-P, --compare-as-domain" options have been added to ddrescuelog. Many improvements have been made to the documentation.
Lynis is an security auditing and hardening tool for Unix derivatives like Linux/BSD/Solaris. It performs an in-depth scan on the system to detect software and security issues. Besides information related to security, it will also scan for general system information, installed packages, and possible configuration mistakes. The software is aimed at assisting automated auditing, configuration management, software patch management, vulnerability detection, and malware scanning of Unix-based systems.
Release Notes: This release adds PHP related tests (e.g. register_global), several improvements of existing functions, and new report values (plugins_enabled, session_timeout_enabled and session_timeout_method). Some smaller improvements have been applied.
Aspose.BarCode is a .NET component for generation and recognition of Linear and 2D barcodes on all kinds of .NET applications. It supports WPF with 29+ Barcode symbologies like OneCode, QR, Aztec, MSI, EAN128, EAN14, SSCC18, Code128, Code39, Postnet, MarcoPDF417, Datamatrix, UPCA, etc. Other features include barcode insertion in PDF, Word, and Excel documents. It can also take image input in BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, and WMF formats. You can also control image styles such as background color and bar color.
Release Notes: Code39 recognition from PDF file format and Code128 and DataMatrix code recognition from TIFF format were fixed.
Google Map GPS Cell Phone Tracker allows you to track Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and Java ME cellphones using Google Maps. It has two parts, a server and phone clients. You have a choice of two servers, using asp.net and SQL server or PHP and MySQL. The server software allows you to view cellphone locations in realtime using Google Maps and store routes and view them later. The client applications send their locations to the website periodically. All four applications work properly in the background and are written natively on each platform.
Release Notes: Android intervals above one minute were fixed, and the AdSense ads publisher ID was removed.
Admin4 is a tool for server maintenance via several plugin modules, running on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and many more platforms. Currently, plugins for BIND DNS, LDAP, and PostgreSQL are included. It is designed as a framework, using Python for fast development of plugins and custom modifications. The DNS plugin should be able to query (axfr) any type of server, and performs updates via DDNS, which ensures that it won't interfere with other DDNS clients (DHCP, SAMBA4). For BIND 9.7 and up, statistics are supported as well and used to retrieve the server's zones automatically. The LDAP plugin features browsing and generic editing of all types of LDAP entries with schema support. In addition, high-level editing of objects like users, groups and samba domains is supported. Custom objectClasses and attributes can easily be added. The PostgreSQL module features a query tool with centrally stored snippets, a data tool with filter presets and a database object browser.
Release Notes: This release has an object find function that lets you locate objects in the browser tree faster. The LDAP and PostgreSQL module enhance this feature, by not just scanning the tree, but searching the database and populating the object browser tree if necessary.
MUSCLE (Multi User Server Client Linking Environment) is an N-way messaging server and networking API. It includes client-side networking APIs for various languages, including C, C++, C#, Delphi, Java, and Python. MUSCLE lets programs communicate over a network via streams of serialized Message objects. The included server program ("muscled") lets its clients message each other and store information in its server-side hierarchical database. The database supports flexible queries via hierarchical wildcarding, and "live" updates via a subscription mechanism.
Release Notes: This release fixed a rather embarrassing bug that would prevent the PR_COMMAND_REMOVEPARAMETERS command handler from removing subscriptions that had wildcards in their subscription-path string. This could cause old subscriptions to build up over time, eventually leading to high memory usage and/or poor performance.
kpcli (KeePass CLI) is a command line interface (interactive shell) to work with KeePass database files. It was inspired by the author's use of the Ked Password Manager's "kedpm -c" option combined with a need to migrate to KeePass.
Release Notes: The open command was fixed.
ChaiScript is an embedded scripting language designed from the ground up to directly target C++ and take advantage of modern C++ development techniques. Being a native C++ application, it has some advantages over existing embedded scripting languages. It uses a header-only approach, which makes it easy to integrate with existing projects. It maintains type safety between your C++ application and user scripts. It supports a variety of C++ techniques including callbacks, overloaded functions, class methods, and STL containers.
Release Notes: This release added automatic conversion of arithmetic return types, following the same rules as conversion of arithmetic types when passing parameters. It also added automatic casting up the inheritence hierarchy when possible. travis.ci testing was enabled. Users can now add globals from within a script. Various static analysis fixes were made and code was modernized to C++11. Unofficial support for Haiku was added. Inability to compile on Cygwin was fixed. There were also formatting fixes, spelling corrections, various threading fixes, and performance improvements.
TXR is a new data munging language. TXR's special pattern language provides template-based matching of entire documents or large sections of documents. It also contains a language for functional and imperative programming. It is written in C and takes the form of a utility that is portable to Unix-like platforms and Windows.
Release Notes: Solaris (x86) and FreeBSD are now supported targets. There were some new functions and bugfixes.
Skylable SX is a reliable, powerful, fully distributed cluster solution for your data storage needs. It can aggregate the disk space available on multiple servers and merge it into a single storage system. The cluster makes sure that your data is always replicated over multiple nodes (the exact number of copies is defined by the sysadmin) and synchronized. It has built-in support for deduplication, client-side encryption, on-the-fly compression, and much more.
Release Notes: Changes in this release include support for using a custom port number, a progress bar in sxcp while transferring files, sxcp --bwlimit support (for setting a bandwidth usage limit), configure --with-system-libs support (to force the use of system libraries), and many minor improvements and bugfixes.
